Patty Patton

High School English, Speech

Patty Patton hails from the great state of Pennsylvania where she received her bachelor's degree in secondary education with an emphasis in speech and English from Edinboro State College. She then went on to receive her Master of Religious Education degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Having the opportunity to teach both speech and English in a Christian setting is like being handed one's dream job on a platter. There is nothing she loves more than discussing a piece of great literature and spending time teaching youth who help keep her young. Patty teaches AP Literature and Composition, Honors and Regular English for grades 9 - 12, and Speech. In the spring she also directs the drama portion of the school musical. She and her husband, Dave, live within walking distance of the school. They have two grown children, a son-in-law, and a grandson, Nathaniel.

Patty began teaching at DBCS in 2004. "I am certain God led me here. What a perfect opportunity to share my love of the written word in a Christian environment. I truly believe God placed me here for ministry. It is my job to prepare kids for life beyond our walls. As teachers we are able to share our Christian experiences, build relationships, and prepare students for what they will face at college or wherever life leads them. Challenging students to grow in God's love is essential for growth. At Denbigh there is an environment for students to mature in their faith. What a gift to work in such a place! I firmly believe God does have a plan for each of us. Jeremiah 29:11 says, 'For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"
