Upper Level Mathematics and Physics
Jim Cass has taught history, Bible, mathematics, chemistry, and physics at Denbigh Baptist Christian School (DBCS) since retiring as a Commander from the U.S. Navy in August 1996. He has been an adjunct instructor of mathematics at Old Dominion University since January 2001 and at Thomas Nelson Community College from 2003 to 2015. Mr. Cass is also the faculty sponsor of the DBCS chapter of Mu Alpha Theta, the National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society. He received the Distinguished Teaching Award for Adjunct Professor for the academic year 2011-2012 from the College of Sciences at Old Dominion University.
Mr. Cass earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri ('76), a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School ('84), and a Master of Science in Education from Old Dominion University ('97).
He is married to the former Jennie Street of Hampton, VA and they have two sons, a daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren. Mr. Cass accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior in April 1975 and has been an active member of Denbigh Baptist Church since July 1993. He enjoys spending time with his wife, being a grandpa, kayaking, and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
